Update and advice

Alert message sent 06/05/2018 13:05:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Good afternoon,

Between 28/04 and 05/05 we have received 3 reports of pedal cycles being stolen and a Theft From Motor Vehicle whereby tools were stolen in the Stotfold & Arlesey areas.

We are noticing a trend in thefts of tools from vehicles/vans. We have also seen a rise in number plate thefts - if possible please fit tamper-proof screws into your number plates. As we have advised previously, please ensure all valuables are removed from vehicles before vacating them. If possible, park in a well-lit area or fit a light to your property that is motion activated in an attempt to put thieves off.

We find property marking very effective if these items were ever found in the hands of the wrong person. UV marking pens can be purchased online for a small fee and used to write your postcode and house number (or anything you'd prefer) on valuable items  (including pedal cycles) which may not be suitable to be carried daily from vehicles/ sheds into properties. Another option is to input serial numbers of these items onto
www.immobilise.com *more information can be found on the website*.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, re-consider your security if you are concerned.
