Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Dear Residents
Well it’s been another busy few weeks in the Cranfield, Marston and Woburn area (Area 3).
Firstly, I want to make you aware of a significant number of Theft From Motor Vehicle offences (especially in the Marston area).  Most of the vehicles concerned had no visible signs of forced entry.  Keyless ‘break ins’ are becoming ever more popular.  That being said there are ways to help protect your vehicle.  Keep your keys as far away as possible from doors and windows.  You could consider purchasing a metallic layered pouch.  These pouches contain signal blocking materials that stop your key transmitting its code.   If you require further advice please contact your car dealership or I can provide further advice if need be.  Most importantly I would remind residents not to leave anything at all in your vehicles.

Secondly, the quarterly Parish Community Priority Setting Meeting was held at HQ this week and a handful of Parishes were able to send a representative for Area 3.   At the meeting it was brought to my attention that some members of the public were not fully aware of our online reporting service.  This can be accessed via you can also of course call 101 but I understand this number can sometimes be very busy and you may have to leave a message.

I’ve spent some considerable time in the Cranfield area recently in respect of personal drug use (adults) and ASB around the new Community Centre.  Certain individuals have been identified and spoken to, I am also doing some work in the local schools.
I’m also working on noise related incidents and ASB around the Services (Beancroft Rd, Marston).  This is having a detrimental effect for residents of the new housing which is close by.  I would ask anyone with any information to get in touch with me or use the reporting tools as mentioned above.

I am also asking residents to complete our Survey Monkey.  It literally takes 2 minutes to complete however it is extremely helpful in identifying the issues that really matter (these go towards the Priorities I will be working on over the next few months..  Please complete the survey and have your say at:

Finally, I will be holding a Police Surgery in Lidlington next Thursday (21st March) in the Village Hall car park between 14:00/16:00hrs.  Please come along if you can to meet me and the team to discuss any concerns you may have.  Crime prevention advice,  purse bells and small personal hand held alarms will be available too.
As always please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Bye for now
