Update for the Cranfield Marston and Woburn Area

Alert message sent 14/04/2019 12:26:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Dear Residents
A quick update for the Cranfield, Marston and Woburn area before I take a few days off for the Easter break.
Firstly I’d like to thank the members of Hands Across Cranfield who made me feel most welcome at their coffee morning on Tuesday.  I had the opportunity to listen to their concerns around Burglary and I was able to pass on some practical crime prevention tips and ideas.  Hopefully I reassured them that the elderly were the least likely age group to be victims of crime.
I’ll be holding a similar event at St Mary's Church, Marston on Wednesday 22nd May at their Afternoon Tea group – more to details to follow nearer the time.
Last night I worked with several colleagues tackling Anti-Social Behaviour (we also worked in Wootton and Flitwick).  We carried out Stop Checks on several youths seizing Cannabis and alcohol we even escorted two young people home to their not so happy parents!  4 Cannabis cautions were also issued. This type of work is labour intensive with lots of ‘paper work’  but it has a positive impact on the quality of life for local residents and sends out a clear message to offenders that they will be caught and dealt with!

I’d also like to mention our fabulous volunteers who support the Watch groups listed below, if you can spare a few hours and would like to support your town or village please contact me for more information.
Speed Watch – In support of Police Speed Enforcement in your area we have effective volunteer groups throughout the County who monitor and assist the Police in advising speeding motorists
Street Watch – This Volunteer group provide vital reassurance within their local community through visible patrols in their neighbourhood.
Neighbourhood Watch – This is an effective means of reducing crime, particularly Burglaries in our communities
All these schemes are supported by Bedfordshire Police and require only as much time as you are able to offer.
I’ll be back after Easter in the meantime please don’t hesitate to contact 101 if you need  support or advice.
Hoping you all have a peaceful and safe Easter break.
Kind regards
