Motorbike thefts in Kempston

Alert message sent 29/04/2019 23:41:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Dear residents,

We want to make you aware of two motorbike thefts that occurred over night on 28/04/19 in Hartwell Drive and Spring Road in Kempston. Both vehicles were parked on driveways and one motorbike was located a short distance away from where it was taken. Please be extra vigilant and report all suspicious activity to us on 101. If possible park motorbikes in locked garages, we advise people to use a disc lock to help secure the front brake disc, or a grip lock to secure the brake and throttle controls. A D lock or chain through the front or rear wheel will prevent a thief being able to wheel a bike away after breaking the steering lock. Thieves often look for particular bike models- using a cover can help deter them and is another time consuming obstacle for them. You can also fit a Thatcham- rated 1 or 2 alarm system with tracking, immobilisation, anti-grab and movement sensors. This can also reduce your insurance premiums.

Kind regards,

Kempston Community Policing Team
