Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Dear Residents
Another glimpse into the world of Community Policing!
My week started off in Luton.  I attended a Wellbeing training day where I learnt good breathing and meditation techniques using Qi Gong (pronounced chee gong) - it’s similar to Tai Chi.  All sounds a little ‘out there’ but I have to say it’s something I aim to put to good use.  I’ve also been security Bike Marking at the Bike Bus, Bourne End Cranfield and attended the Husborne Crawley/Ridgmont spring fete.   Over the weekend I completed a letter drop around the new Community Centre in Cranfield.  We have received reports of youths climbing up onto the roof ripping off tiles and guttering and snapping newly planted trees in half.  The aim of my letter drop is to appeal for more information and to reassure local residents.  On a positive note 2 new Street Watch volunteers have received their final training and are now patrolling the streets of Cranfield being the eyes and ears of the community.  They are supported by Beds Police, if you feel you can spare 2 hours a month and you want to find out more please get in touch with me.
Let’s talk about Crime stats.  We’ve certainly seen a spike of Burglaries and Thefts.  Commercial properties rather than dwellings have been targeted, its worth remembering though that the impact is still keenly felt by the business owners.  Theft from motor vehicles is also still an issue – please check what you leave inside your cars as wallets, designer sun glasses and loose change are all very attractive to would be thieves.
Next week is looking packed too.  On Wednesday 22nd May I will be holding a meet and greet/crime prevention event at St. Mary’s Church, Marston Moretaine between 2/4pm. I’d like to thank Rev Kate for her support and for allowing me to use the Church facilities – tea/coffee and cake will be available too I understand.  Please do come along if you can.  On Thursday I will be on Polling Station duties –making sure there’s no Public Order Offences! On Sunday I will be back in Luton for the Carnival.
As always, please do get in touch if there’s anything I can help with meanwhile please keep safe and enjoy the forth coming Bank Holiday weekend.
Kind regards
