Burglaries and Theft of Motor - 7403

Alert message sent 14/06/2019 12:26:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Good Afternoon,

I am emailing to notify you that there have been numerous Burglaries, Burglary attempts and Theft of Motor incidents in the Shefford and Clifton area. At times like this, it is of the upmost importance that your property is as secure as possible.

- Ensure that your vehicle is locked at all times. Offenders try their luck with car door handles, and when locked will often move onto the next one.
- Never keep anything on display in your vehicle, whether it be a sat nav or loose change.
- Sometimes houses are targeted due to a desirable car on the drive, ensure you keep your car keys in safe place and not near the front door/windows.
- If you own a motorcycle and have not already, consider installing a ground anchor or a sturdy chain and padlock.
- Ensure that both your front and rear doors are locked at all times. If an offender is not lucky with the front door they may try the rear.
-There are many types of CCTV/alarm systems. Consider which is most suitable for your needs/budget/property by researching online.
- Effective security lighting can substantially reduce the amount of time available to a potential intruder by making them vulnerable to discovery.
- Property marking cannot prevent your items from being stolen but it is a very good deterrent as it is harder to sell on items that are protectively marked.

Should you wish to report anything of concern to Bedfordshire Police, please do so either on 101 or using the online reporting tool found at https://www.bedfordshire.police.uk.report/Report

Kind Regards,
PCSO 7403 Hirst.
