Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Good afternoon residents

I just wanted to send out a message of some good recent results for the area.
On 14/06/2019 we held our Community Priority meeting for the Queens Park and Castle area, where we presented to residents and partner agencies, what work and good results we had achieved in the area in relation to the previously decided priority of drugs. At the end of the meeting, after much healthy debate and discussion, the priority for the next 3 months for the local policing team has been decided as drugs once again. The next Priority meeting will be in September. Details of this will be sent out in the coming months.

On 17/06/2019 a drugs warrant was carried out at an address on Alexandra Road in Bedford. This comes after proactive patrols have been carried out and intelligence gathered by the Local Community Team here at Lime Street. Our colleagues in the tasking team have carried out the warrant, resulting in the arrest of a male for drug supply offences. The investigation is ongoing but it is clear we have disrupted the drug supply activity from this individual.

On 19/06/2019 PCSO's from, the local community team attended an address in the Ashburnham Road area of Bedford. A male has subsequently made off from the officers but was detained near to the train station after support from response officers in the area. Male was arrested after being seen to discard an item that was later found to be a package containing what is suspected to be multiple wraps of class a drugs. This male is believed to be involved in County Lines drug dealing and was an excellent arrest that will disrupt this activity. Once again enquiries and investigation are ongoing with this person.

Following on from the enforcement at the address on Alexandra Road, the local policing team at Lime Street have been working to put together evidence for a closure order for the address due to the impact the drug related ASB has had on the community. Today we have issued a closure notice at the address. Tomorrow a hearing will be conducted at Luton Magistrates Court and hopefully a full closure order will be granted. This means that nobody will allowed to access the address for 3 months including the tenant. A further update will be sent out in relation to the court result tomorrow.

Kind regards

Your Local Policing Team.
