Cranfield Marston and Woburn Area Update

Alert message sent 03/08/2019 10:28:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Dear Residents

Well there’s certainly never a dull moment in the Policing world!

The Community Team played a small part in supporting Marston Vale Forest Centre in welcoming HRH The Princess Royal earlier on in the week.  Princess Ann
planted a Commemorative Tree with a plaque dedicated to the Forest Centre’s volunteers.  By all accounts it was a marvellous day but sadly I have to tell you
that the tree and plaque were stolen the following day.  The Forest Centre is a fantastic place to visit which is right on our door step, unfortunately its seen more than its fair
share of crime recently having suffered a substantial theft of equipment, then over a £1,000. worth of mindless criminal damage to one of the bird hides then this latest incident of theft.

I would encourage local residents to be vigilant, please don’t hesitate to report anything that looks suspicious – we would much rather check it out and find nothing untoward than missing an opportunity of catching criminals in the act!

On a more positive note recorded crime in the area over the last few weeks has been fairly low.  That’s not to say THEFTS in general are not happening.

A couple of Thefts from sheds and out buildings have been reported and thefts from commercial premises, these include diesel and petrol thefts along the A421
which falls into the Woburn, Cranfield and Marston area’s crime stats.  These distort the figures – I know residents feel worried about thefts from their homes - that’s not to say businesses don’t feel the consequences too.  Please do report incidents of Theft as this gives us a true picture of what is actually happening.

I’ve got a couple of engagement events coming up, next week I will be dropping into the Coffee Afternoon at St Mary’s Church Marston (Wed from 14:30), I’ll be supporting the Woburn Fire Station Open Day on Saturday 10th (12/3pm) then I’ll be in Cranfield (Budgens) on Thursday 15th August between 12/2pm.  Please do come along, I’ll be property marking and as always offering personal hand held alarms and other crime prevention advice and aids.

As always, please do get in touch with me if there’s anything concerning you or please call 101 (or 999 if an emergency) if you see or hear anything suspicious.

Kind regards
Gill
