Tackling exploitation for Anti Slavery Day

Alert message sent 20/10/2019 20:35:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Friday was Anti-Slavery Day, and over recent days we ran a number of operations to prevent vulnerable people from being exploited by organised crime gangs.

Modern slavery and exploitation can take many forms, but the most common forms we see in Bedfordshire are sexual exploitation, forced labour and criminal exploitation by gangs involved in drug dealing.

Underpinning all of these is the link to organised crime.

This week's Force Focus column looks at the nature of this threat in Bedfordshire, what we are doing to tackle it, and how the public can help us protect our communities
