Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Good Evening Citizen

I hope that you are well and your Christmas preparation are going well, I was quite busy lately however I have done my best to visit the area as often as possible.
Usually at this time of year we receive more reports of burglaries. This is brought by number of things: longer nights, people going to visit their families and lovely gifts left under the Christmas tree. That said, so far since the 1st of November untill this evening between Streatley, Sundon, Sharpenhoe and Barton-Le-Clay we only received 2 reports of burglaries, both occurred around 6 PM, and on both occasions offenders appeared to be spooked by either the home owners returning back, or neighbours checking on the properties.
I cannot stress enough the importance of you calling us if you believe that there is something suspicious happening at your neighbours. Each and every of would rather go on blues to an a call and find that there is nothing amiss than not get a call and then visit a family where their home was burgled.

There are few simple tricks which would decrease your chance of being burgled, when leaving the house leave a radio or a telly on timer, leave a light or two on as well (if you get them on timers even better)
Also when possible keep your valuables (and gifts) out of sight from outside.

On the other note, hopefully in early in new year I will be posted to a new shared blue light facility which is closer to heart of the area, watch this space for further announcements.

All that is left now is to wish You and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2020.
