North Rural Community Priority Update

Alert message sent 07/05/2020 20:58:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Good evening,
I hope you are all safe and well in these unusual times. A lot of our work at the moment is related to breaches in the Covid-19 regulations, with the force seeing record numbers of calls in recent weeks. Breaches in Covid-19 regulations can be reported at
However, this message is intended to give an update on the Community Priority, which is High Visibility Policing And Crime Reduction In Relation To Burglary. So, I have a few statistics for you.

In March, the North Rural area saw 11 residential burglaries and 6 non-residential burglaries. These show a fall of 62% and 70% on the same period in 2019.

For April, there were 9 residential burglaries and 5 non-residential burglaries. These are a fall of 47% and 58% on last year’s figures.

I am sure these figures are affected by the "stay home" regulations currently in place, reducing the opportunity for offenders. I will urge you to continue to lock doors and windows when you do leave your homes where regulations allow.

I have attached some crime prevention leaflets with advice which may be helpful. But in general, house alarms, motion activated lighting and CCTV are the main areas where home security can be improved.
Please continue to report all offences using 999 / 101 or our online reporting tool. Please also take the time to complete our 30 second ‘Have Your Say Surveys’ to tell us what the priorities are in your area. The link to this survey is
