Vehicle Crime Update For North Rural

Alert message sent 20/05/2020 10:05:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Good morning,

Following on from my previous message relating to the Community Priority and the reduction in burglary offences in the North Rural Villages in March and April, I would like to give you an update on vehicle offences.

From 1st March to today, there has been an increase (compared to the same period in 2019) in Theft From Motor Vehicle offences. The increase is from 53 to 60, which is a 13% rise.
Interfering with a Motor Vehicle also saw an increase from 9 to 36, a 300% increase. This may just be due to an increase in reporting and the vigilance of residents.

However, Theft of Motor Vehicles has seen a decrease from 20 to 8, which is a 60% drop.

I would like to ask residents to think about their vehicle security. Whether this is ensuring that it is locked when left, not leaving anything inside especially in view or parking in well-lit areas.

I have again attached crime prevention leaflets for you to look through, which may help give you some ideas.

Kind regards
PCSO 6753 James Dancer
