Preventing illegal gatherings and unlicensed music events

Alert message sent 14/08/2020 17:26:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

As the warm weather and easing of government guidelines continue, we will be increasing our efforts to prevent and disperse any illegal gatherings and unlicensed music events in the county.
We work closely with our communities to gather intelligence around these events to try and make sure they aren’t subjected to large gatherings in their area, which can cause anxiety and worry.
These type of events breach Covid-19 regulations and put more people at risk of catching the virus as people gather in large groups and don’t always adhere to social distancing. It can also encourage and expose people to other types of criminality such as anti-social behaviour, drugs and violence.
We understand that many people will want to go out, enjoy the good weather and socialise with other people after a difficult couple of months but we are asking anyone who is thinking of attending or hosting one of these events to avoid doing so for the safety of others.
Officers will be engaging with the public, explaining the regulations and encouraging them do the right thing and return home.
If such an event is taking place near you and it’s causing concern then please visit https://www.bedfordshire.police.uk/report/Report

Please remember to only call 999 in an emergency.
