Assisting in search of missing dogs

Alert message sent 01/09/2020 12:48:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Our Officers recently helped to reunite a dog with its owner after it was suspected to have been stolen from the Manchester area. This was the result of great partnership working with DogLost.co.uk charity, who assist in the search of missing dogs.

DogLost has kindly gifted two microchip scanners to us which can now be used to identify lost or stolen dogs.

It can also be used to scan other animals or items, like saddles, that have a microchip.

PC Jennifer Buckley, who worked with DogLost, said: "We are so happy we could help reunite the dog with their owners. I cannot imagine what the family have gone through after it was taken. Hopefully now they will have the opportunity to catch up on lost time".

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind animal owners how important it is to microchip your pets and keep your details updated. Additionally, it is required by law for all dogs to be microchipped at the age of eight weeks.

"We would also like to thank DogLost for their help and support. The microchip scanners are a great gift and our Force will certainly put them to good use".
