Further to an increase in reports over the Bank Holiday weekend of the theft of tools and bikes from outbuildings, please check the security of your shed or garage.

The top 5 most common items stolen from sheds are -
1. Bikes
2. Mowers
3. Sports equipment
4.  Power tools
5. Garden tools


Never leave a shed or garage unlocked, even when you are gardening, especially if it has a connecting door to the house.

Clearly mark all your garden and power tools.

Fit wire mesh to the inside of garden shed windows.

Make sure all doors are fitted with good quality locks and lock them.

Photograph valuable and unusual garden ornaments and keep them in a secure place.

Secure your bike to the ground or a lockable stand within a locked shed or garage.
