Burglary spike warning

Alert message sent 30/09/2020 15:17:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

We are issuing a vigilance reminder following an increase of burglaries and attempted burglaries in the Hart Hill, Round Green, Stopsley and Bushmead areas of Luton.

Bedfordshire Police’s Operation Maze, a team dedicated to investigating burglary, work tirelessly to put criminals behind bars and recently they have secured a number of lengthy sentences for offenders prolific in Luton.

Read more about team’s successes here: Whilst the team are doing what they can to crackdown on offenders, we would like to take this opportunity to re-share our home security advice.
  • Keep all valuables and keys safely out of sight from windows, both in your home and car.
  • Do not hide your keys in a ‘safe’ place outside your home.
  • Secure all house and vehicle doors. Double lock your doors.
  • Make sure your garages and sheds are not left unlocked. Burglars can steal valuable tools, or use them to gain entry to your house.
  • Have a look at whether it is cost effective to install technology, such as CCTV or a video doorbell device.
Visit our website for more practical tips and advice.

If you have any information about any suspicious behaviour in your area or you wish to report a crime you can do it by visiting our online reporting centre or by calling 101.

In case of emergency or if the crime is still in progres always call 999.
