Vigilance reminder following increase of car key burglaries

Alert message sent 30/09/2020 15:23:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

We are issuing a vigilance reminder following a local increase of car keys burglaries in your area.

The force has recorded eight incidents in one night and would like to ask you to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour in your neighbourhood.

Additionally, please follow our advice to minimise the chance of becoming a victim of burglary.
  • Keep all valuables and keys safely out of sight from windows, both in your home and car.
  • Do not hide your keys in a ‘safe’ place outside your home.
  • Secure all house and vehicle doors. Double lock your doors.
  • Make sure your garages and sheds are not left unlocked. Burglars can steal valuable tools, or use them to gain entry to your house.
  • Have a look at whether it is cost effective to install technology, such as CCTV or a video doorbell device.
Visit our website for more practical tips and advice.

If you have any information about any suspicious behaviour in your area or you wish to report a crime you can do it by visiting our online reporting centre or by calling 101.

In case of emergency or if the crime is still in progres always call 999.
